Emily’s Austin City Guide
Austin has a way of doing everything with its own twist, and we love it for that. Whether you’re in town for a weekend or planning an extended stay, here are our founder, Emily’s, go-to spots that she always recommends adding to your list—from chic shopping and great meals to the best places to stay and explore.
SHOPPING
Austin’s shopping scene has a little bit of everything. Valentine’s is one of our favorite boutiques, offering a curated selection of contemporary and designer brands with two convenient locations. For a high-end resale experience, Moss Designer Consignment delivers with its elevated take on consignment shopping. Not far behind is By George, where a mix of Austin’s laidback style and standout designer pieces make it a must-stop for both men and women. And for a more classic retail experience, the Domain is an outdoor shopping area packed with all the go-to stores and staples.
DINING
When it comes to food, Austin’s dining scene does not disappoint. Uchi is non-traditional Japanese at its best—don’t miss this or one of its sister restaurants. Clark’s Oyster Bar is a now-iconic must-try spot that always delivers fresh seafood dishes. For something unique, head to Elizabeth Street Cafe—you’d never guess this darling little house offers an incredible French-Vietnamese menu. Be sure to try the banh mi and pair it with their signature Vietnamese coffee. Josephine House is a versatile favorite, open for all meals, but we especially recommend brunch or their steak frites for dinner. For a setting steeped in southern charm, Mattie’s is the place to be. This southern menu is served in a sprawling 19th-century estate.
If you’re in the mood for classic French-American fare, Jeffrey’s has been an Austin staple for nearly 50 years, offering a menu that includes steak, award-winning wines, and timeless dishes. For casual mornings or a laid-back afternoon, stop by Swedish Hill, a bakery and breakfast spot that never disappoints. And if you’re in need of a quick caffeine fix, Summer Moon is a staple for grab-and-go coffee with a local twist.
TO DO
Austin has no shortage of things to do, whether you’re into nature or exploring the city’s unique neighborhoods. Barton Springs is the perfect way to enjoy a hit of nature right in the middle of the city. A walk down South Congress is also a must, with several blocks of eclectic shops and restaurants. And if you’re up for a little drive, heading out to the Hill Country will take you through some truly beautiful scenes. It’s a great way to experience the natural beauty of Texas, just outside the city.
TO STAY
Austin’s hotels offer plenty of options for any kind of stay. Hotel Ella is a historic mansion turned hotel near the Capitol and University of Texas campus, combining charm and convenience. For a sleek and stylish option, The Proper Hotel is hard to beat. Designed by Kelly Wearstler and part of the Marriott/Bonvoy portfolio, it’s both chic and centrally located. For those who want the best of the best, Commodore Perry is it. This Auberge property is Austin’s crown jewel, offering impeccable service and luxurious surroundings. Finally, for those who love relaxation, Miraval is set overlooking Lake Travis and stands out as one of the top spa resorts in the country.
Austin is a city that has something for everyone, whether you’re there for the shopping, the food, or just enjoying its charm. These spots are just the beginning of what the city has to offer. If you’re interested in learning more or would like to work with our team, reach out to us below!
